Falguni Nayar had began a new journey as an entrepreneur by founding Nykaa.com. She born on 19 February, 1963 in Mumbai. She graduated from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. She done MBA from one of the India’s reputed institute Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. If we talk about her married life, she is married to his classmate in IIM, Ahmedabad Sanjay Nayar and both are parents of two twins Anchit Nayar and Adwaita Nayar. After her education she began her career as a manager in A.F. Ferguson and Co. Then she served in Kotak Mahindra Capital for 18 years and left from the post of managing director to pursue her dreams. Nykaa is an E-commerce website for the online shopping of more than 500 brands of beauty, cosmetics and wellness products. Nykaa also has its first store opened at T-3 terminal in Indira Gandhi International Airport. Nykaa is the first to provide its customers various international luxury brands on its website. Falguni Nayar has began her new journey to pursue her dreams at an age in which people usually consider themself old and starts preparing for their retirement. Not only for women she is an inspiration for everyone who had dropped their dreams due to any compulsion or responsibility. She has been honoured many times for her success. In 2017 in Economic Times Startup Awards she got Woman Ahead Award and in the same year she had been enlisted by Business Today in Most Powerful Women in the field of Business.
She graduated from National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar and pursued post graduation in Management Science from Stanford University in USA. She began her career from working in HSBC in San Diego and then on PayPal. In 2008 she left PayPal and returned back to India. Here she started a payment gateway called Zaakpay. During this period she met Bipin Preet and both of them got married. They both together started a mobile wallet, MobiKwik. As an entrepreneur she got benefited from her experience in the field of digital payment and finance. She is the first woman in India to start a venture in online payment. Her aim was to make digital payment easy and user friendly. On her way to success she had faced some difficulties for being a woman and it was her desire and courage that she confidently overcame this difficulties. In the field of digital payment some were already predominant and had an advantage of being the first mover. But they were not providing a user friendly experience to their customers due to old technology and high sign up charges. But MobiKwik was successful in overcoming these limitations and provided a user friendly experience to its customers. All she has achieved is by her innovative vision, experience and knowledge in this field. It was a challenge to make this mobile wallet acceptable and comfortable for the people from various culture, languages and environment. She got support from government and IT sector. She with her husband Bipin Preet had began her startup in 2011 by converting two rooms from her 4 BHK flat into an office. Next year they launched MobiKwik mobile app which attracted venture capitalist Sequoia Capital. Due to this her consumers had increased many times and more than one lakh transactions had been done on MobiKwik, in which they have also served Indian Railways and uber cabs. Till 2014 MobiKwik had got five million dollar as investment from various investors. They had shifted in a bigger office in Gurgaon with the strength of employees raised to fifty. In 2014 MobiKwik was honoured with mBillionth Award South Asia in the field of mobile business. In 2016 they got investment of 50 million dollar from Net1, GMO Payment gateway, Sequoia Capital, Tree Line Asia and Media Tek. In the same year their total consumers had reached more than 35 million. Upasana had got a place in Forbes list ‘Women to Watch’ in 2016. The use of MobiKwik had increased with 400% during demonetisation in 2016. It was showing a growth of 250% year by year. About 4000 bus tickets per day were booked on this platform. They had expanded their service by including recharge, small loans to its customers and many things. The reason for Upasana’s success as an entrepreneur was not only her hard work, devotion and desire; but also her experience and knowledge in this field had played a great role. It was her knowledge that helped her to know problems and requirements of customers in the field of online payment. It is the user friendly experience of MobiKwik that gained it popularity day by day.
Sabina Chopra is known for founding Yatra.com. She had completed her degree in Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University. She had an experience of working in many companies like Hewitt Associates, Royal Automobile Club, Japan Airlines and Canadian Airlines. In tourism sector she have experience of working in Ebookers India, which is a branch of Europe’s online tourism company Ebookers in India. She had a 25 years of experience in working in tourism sector before starting her own venture. In 2006 she began her journey as an entrepreneur by founding Yatra as a start-up with some co-founders. Its headquarter is in Gurgaon and she herself becomes Vice-president of Yatra. It becomes popular among Indian tourists. It received investment from Reliance venture, Web18 and Intel capital. Till 2011 its overall investment had reached 28 million dollars. It became more popular after starting holiday-cum-shopping card with the State Bank of India. In 2017 Sabina got appointed as managing director of Resort Condominiums International. She always contributes for social work through NGOs specially for girl child. Once she had to take a break from her career for supporting her family, but she had again started everything from where she had left.
Radhika Aggarwal’s father was retired from Indian Army and mother is a dietician. She had completed her MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. After retirement her father had started a health club from where Radhika starting gaining experience as an entrepreneur. In 1997 she had started an advertising agency in Chandigarh. She also had an experience of 14 years in various sectors such as lifestyle, retail marketing, e-commerce and fashion in United States of America. In Seattle, United States she had also worked with companies like Nordstrom and Goldman Sachs. In 2011 she founded ShopClues as a co-founder in Silicon Valley, which is an online shopping platform. Currently she is Chief Business Officer in this company. She is the first woman from India to enter unicorn club. In 2016 she had received many honours like, Outlook Business Woman of Worth in Outlook Business Awards, Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in Entrepreneur India Awards, Exemplary Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in CMO Asia Awards and CEO of the Year Award in CEO India Awards.
Birth place of Richa Kar is Jamshedpur. She completed her graduation from BITS Pilani and post graduation from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). She had an experience of working in IT sector and she also gained experience in retail marketing by working in Spencers and SAP. She began her own start-up Zivame with Kapil Karekar. Zivame is a platform for the online shopping of lingerie. While carrying out a research on market of lingerie in India she get to know the embarrassment felt by a woman while purchasing lingerie. Then she decided to start a platform as a solution to this embarrassment. From Zivame she not only made it easier to buy lingerie online but she also provides various fashionable varieties in this. The story of Richa Kar has shown us that how a common working woman had realised the requirement of women in our country and started her own venture to fulfill their requirement.

For higher studies she went to London School of Economics in London after obtaining scholarship from Singapore government. After completing her studies she worked in Goldman Sachs for 5 years. During this period she got married with Rohan Bhargava, whom she first time met in London School of Economics during her studies. Currently Rohan is co-founder and CEO of CashKaro. The thought of a cashback portal had came into the mind of the couple while booking a flight for their honeymoon when they received ₹ 25000 as cashback. First they had founded PouringPounds in United Kingdom but they didn’t achieved much success. Then they realised the opportunities of cashback in India which inspired them to found CashKaro in India. Here they got success and CashKaro had been liked by everyone from which they can save some amount during online transaction. They also received investments from Ratan Tata and Kalaari Capital. The couple is also running a cashback portal in Singapore with name of ZoBucks. Swati had got a place in Fortune India 40 under 40. She also received first digital woman award by She The People (Shethepeople.tv). She had proved herself intelligent by reaching from a school in Ambala to one the most prestigious institute London School of Economics. While being a working woman when she had found opportunity in this field she founded her own venture PouringPounds. She didn’t stepped back when PouringPounds didn’t met much success and started a successful venture in her own country.
Sairee Chahal is from Delhi. She completed her M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University and PGDBM from Institute of Management and Technology, Ghaziabad. During this period in 1999 she started a newslink service for mariners. She had started her career with journalism and then worked for Heidrick and Struggles and CII. Then in January, 2014 she started up her own website Sheroes (Sheroes.com). Through her website she dedicated herself in making women empowered. She provides support and information to women regarding career and jobs and she also supports women who wants to work from home. She had also founded Fleximoms, which is India’s largest community of professional women. The aim of fleximoms is to provide support in career or to start a profession to those women who either left their career or unable to make a start in their career due to their responsibilities of family. It also supports women who work but have to satisfy themselves with less. Sairee has made himself empowered by making other women empowered too. She is the perfect example of an empowered woman.
