Sai Pallavi Senthamarai a South Indian film actress appearing in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films and dancer refused a contract of a skin lightening cream advertisement saying it wasn’t something she believed in.

Born in Kotagiri, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu she grew up and was educated in Coimbatore. She completed her medical studies at the Tbilisi State Medical University, Georgia in 2016 which is recognised by the Medical Council of India, but not yet registered as a medical practitioner.

She participated in various cultural events in school and gained popularity as a dancer. Due to her inclination towards dance she participated in the dance reality show Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva on Vijay TV in 2008, and appeared on Dhee Ultimate Dance Show on ETV Telugu in 2009. In an interview she said, although she was not a trained dancer, she always wanted to be like her mother, Radha Kannan in dancing.

While studying in Tbilisi she got a offer for the role of Malar by the film-director Alphonse Putharen in his film Premam in 2014. She shot the film during her holidays and after that returned to her studies. She won several ‘Best Female Debut’ that year including the Filmfare award.

She took a month break from her studies in 2015 for her second movie, Kali, which got released on March 2016. This film earned her a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam.

By playing the role of Bhanumathi an independent village girl from Telangana in Sekhar Kammula’s film Fidaa, she marked her debut in Telugu films in 2017. Then she worked with director A. L. Vijay in Diya, a Tamil- Telugu bilingual film. She starred in Tamil movie Maari 2 opposite to Dhanush. The song from this movie Rowdy Baby is the highest viewed song in Youtube from South India.

In her childhood she appeared in uncredited roles as a child actress in Kasthooriman (2003) and Dhaam Dhoom (2008).

She refused to accept remuneration for Padi Padi Leche Manasu which under performed at box office. The producers had reportedly given her half of the remuneration before beginning of the film and other half after release. Since the film turned out to be flop she refused to accept other half to help the producers recover the losses.

On refusal of skin lightening cream advertisement she said that she wouldn’t accept such an offer just for the money involved. This is her general stand, not just for this specific cream.

In Forbes India seventh annual list ’30 under 30′, a list featuring 30 most promising professionals, performers, entrepreneurs, artists and disruptors across India who are under the age of 30, she has secured a spot. She wrote on her social handle ” I’m humbled and honoured to be listed in Forbes 30 under 30 !”

The actress besides being excellent in her movies while performing her roles proved herself a honest, kind hearted, a woman of principle and values and she also proved that money can’t be above her morals. She is a perfect example of beauty with brain. Her dedication towards her profession and obligation towards morals and values may be the reason behind her great achievement, fame and respect.
